Title : Dive the HMAS Canberra in Victoria

Description : Dive the wreck of the HMAS Canberra -- Victoria's first artificial reef created for the sole purpose of diving. Join thousands of curious divers who have already flocked to the sunken frigate since it's opening on the 5th of December 2009. Take a boat ride from Portsea or Queenscliff, then drop 28 metres below the waves of Bass Strait to explore the flight decks, the bridge, engine rooms and galley. How to get there The site is a 20--25 minute boat ride from Portsea (Mornington Peninsula) and Queenscliff (Bellarine Peninsula). To gain access divers must either book a dive tour with a licensed tour operator or book a slot on the public mooring through Parks Victoria. There are four moorings and the site can accommodate approximately 60 divers at any one time. Dive bookings will give divers exclusive use of a mooring for two hours at a cost of $30 per boat regardless of the number of divers on board. The money raised will contribute some of the cost to manage the site. Skill requirements The site has been established specifically for diving and snorkelling and access is restricted to visitors participating in these activities only. Divers wishing to access the site must hold a current and industry recognised entry--level qualification (equivalent to Australian Standard AS4005.1) with appropriate experience for the dive being undertaken.
