Title : Monastery Beach, Carmel, CA, SCUBA Dive, March 28, 2013
Description : I had some time off of work while up in Monterey on March 28th, 2013. Kristin and I decided to make a dive at Monastery Beach in Carmel, just off the 1. The surge was up a little, so we had to get in at the North side of the beach, since there was a little shelter from the sets there. The wind was very light. I did not have high hopes for this dive, since the water looked quite green, and there was an obvious Spring bloom going on. The bad visibility did not disappoint, and we had just a few feet of vis. Still, this was a pretty spectacular dive. We saw a lot of invertebrates including decorator crabs, abalone, and many types of sea stars and sea anemones. There were a bunch of fish too, including rockfish (black, blue, black and yellow, gopher, kelp, and olive), kelp greenlings, cabezon, and others. At the end of the dive a fat harbor seal made an appearance.
